Shawn McCann

Shawn McCann has 18 years of experience in designing and leading professional development. He also teaches graduate courses as an adjunct professor for Fairleigh Dickinson University. His current work involves innovative facilitation, strategy development, team building, and cultivating creativity. Shawn and his team created and facilitate the Marine Corps’ Innovative Instructor Workshop. He is also responsible for conducting the MInD assessment tool validation and baseline data collection efforts. Subsequently, Shawn shaped the MInD project for final presentation earlier this year. Shawn earned his doctorate in adult learning and leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College in 2017. His baccalaureate in international transportation and trade came from New York Maritime College in 2004. Shawn’s current research interests include transformative learning, flow, and communities of practice. For his doctoral dissertation, he studied a community of practice of elite athletes and their use of mobile learning to support flow states. Prior to joining CPG, Shawn was an active duty Marine infantry officer. Before retiring from twenty-years of military service, he led Train the Trainer School – West as an education officer and certified instructors, curriculum developers, and school managers.
