Why You Need to Follow the Military’s Social Media

There is nothing the social media team at CPG loves more than connecting with all our friends and followers across all of our social media outlets. We consistently blog, share fun and interesting CPG events on Facebook, and tweet from our favorite conferences. Clearly social media has become an important part of our lives (and yours) in the last decade.

What about the Military? Did you know the Department of Defense (DoD) has a vast array of social media used to connect with followers? We highly recommend the following avenues for staying connected with our DoD partners via social media.

The U.S. Navy hosts a similar site , with groups ranging from Africa Partnership Station to the Naval Research Laboratory. The Navy has a vibrant Flickr page with nearly 18 thousand photos from around the world as well as a bustling Instagram page. Some of the photos showcase the amazing aircraft carriers of the Navy.

The Air Force blog is full of fantastic insights and thought-provoking posts. A recent blog post by Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Brown discusses making emotionless decisions, a topic that hits close to home for those of us in the behavioral sciences world.

The Army hosts a Slideshare site for their Social Media usage tips, not only for Soldiers, but for anyone building a Social Network following. The Army keeps an active Google+ page and a Pinterest pin board filled with interesting army infographics and informational pieces.
